- Laser Engraving & Cutting
Laser Engraving and Cutting
With 3 high-tech laser engravers, we can easily handle all jobs, ranging from personalizing a single ink pen, to large industrial production orders. Our largest laser boasts an impressive 20" x 32" bed, and we have rotary attachments that allow us to engrave the entire circumference of round objects. Laser Engraving is a non-contact process, which makes it easy to achieve repeatable, permanent marks with the laser.
Laser Engravable Materials List
- Wood
- Acrylics and some Plastics
- Metals (Coated, non-coated, and anodized)
- Corian
- Granite, Marble, and non-porous stone
- Glass (Flat or round objects such as glasses and wine bottles)
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Decals
- ID plates
- Leather
- Latex Rubber (for custom ink stamps)
Vector Cutting (Using CO2 Laser)
For Vector Cutting, the CO2 Laser follows a path around a solid line, moving much slower than in Raster Engraving.
Materials that we can Vector Cut include:
- Plastics:
- ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene)
- Acrylic (also known as Plexiglas, Lucite, PMMA)
- Acrylite
- Delrin (POM, acetal)
- Kapton tape (Polyimide)
- Mylar (polyester)
- Perspex
- PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol)
- Plexiglas
- Polypropylene (PP) – melts somewhat
- Styrene
- Two-tone acrylic – top color different than core material, usually for custom instrumentation panels, signs, and plaques.
- Foam:
- Depron foam – often used for RC planes.
- EPM
- Gator foam – foam core gets burned and eaten away compared to the top and bottom hard shell.
- Other:
- Cloths (leather, suede, felt, hemp, cotton)
- Magnetic sheets
- Papers
- Rubbers (only if they do not contain chlorine)
- Teflon (PTFE, Polytetrafluoroethylene)
- Woods (MDF, balsa, birch, poplar, red oak, cherry, holly, etc.)
Materials we cannot laser cut
We do not cut the following materials:
- Metals – we can engrave metal, but we cannot cut it.
- Polycarbonate (PC, Lexan)
- Polyethylene (PE) – melts badly
- Any material containing chlorine
- PVC (Cintra) – contains chlorine
- Vinyl – contains chlorine
- Glass – we can engrave glass, but we cannot cut it.
- Fiberglass
- Printed circuit board (FR4 and other material types)
- Carbon fiber
- High density polyethylene (HDPE) – melts badly
